The application Dictionary System provides a working environment for the creation of one-way bilingual dictionaries or encyclopaedias and websites which enable the general public to search in a dictionary.

Dictionary system can be downloaded in three versions: 1. dictionary-system-bare_1.0.zip 2. dictionary-system-icelandic_1.0.zip 3. dictionary-system-hvalur_1.0.zip 1. Dictionary system - bare (318MB) Application is intended to create any language bilingual dictionary. In comparison to Dictionary System - Icelandic and Dictionary System - Hvalur zip file does not contain any audio files, headword list etc. 2. Dictionary system - Icelandic (1.5GB) Application with Icelandic extention is intended to create Icelandic-any language dictionary. Application already contains audio files, pictures, IPA transcriptions, list of headwords (22000), senses, examples, rule for generation of IPA etc. 3. Dictionary system - Hvalur (1,6GB) Application contains multimedia Icelandic-Czech students' Dictionary that can be found at www.hvalur.org.

Extension for Icelandic

The application contains the Extension for Icelandic. The Extension includes a list of headwords (22 000), the IPA transcription, pronunciation recorded by a native speaker (Jón Gíslason), rules of Icelandic pronunciation, word division. There are also tables containing declension of nouns, adjectives and pronouns, conjugation of verbs and degrees of comparison of adverbs. The Extension includes also scripts which allow to generate declension and conjugation of new headwords. Each headword is specified by its part of speech. In addition, there are morphological data on noun and verb endings as well as syntactic data on verbs. Furthermore, the Extension contains approximately 10 000 synonyms and antonyms and about 8 300 headword examples.
